“Altered Plans” is a novelette published on Patreon in 2024. Gerard is stuck with old enemies and only one possible friend nearby: Lorelei.

Synopsis[]
Gerard, a prior acquaintance of Lorelei’s, was stuck in Seattle for the night due to a canceled flight. Worse, the mob boss Arthur Rutledge had learned he was there too, and has a bone to pick with him. Desperately, Gerard reached out to Lorelei.
Lorelei had meanwhile left Alex exhausted by her professional treatment. Despite this he accompanied Lorelei as she went to extract Gerard from his trouble. With Alex as lookout and getaway driver, Lorelei dealt with Rutledge’s goons. Meanwhile, Rachel dispelled Alex’s exhaustion and encouraged safe driving.

Theories[]
Lorelei’s statement that Belial would have appreciated Gerard’s soul is the first evidence we have that Hell, or at least some parts of it, cared about the individual quality of a person’s soul. Compare Hannah’s statement on “One soul! One soul at a time! That is what we do!”[1]
Lorelei took on another look and persona when she had Benjamin as per prey. It is unknown how Gerard could connect Lorelei in Chicago with Lorelei in Seattle, and then could recognize Lorelei again when they met again in the Last Dollar.
Trivia[]
The Last Dollar bar and restaurant might be a reference to 13 Coins, which have a location right next to SeaTac in an office tower.
