A demon, prince of Hell, and Lorelei’s first master. He first appeared in Good Intentions.

Biography[]

Baal was a demon and prince of Hell with a crown made of iron.

Around 1000 BCE Baal recruited Beletsenu to his cause after she had murdered her abusive husband and his entire household, brought her to Hell, and shaped her into a succubus.[1][2]

He was in an extended low-grade feud with Belial, until Belial caught Baal over-extended. That started an open and direct conflict, in which Baal feared for his destruction. In order to end the feud, Lorelei was traded to Belial at around 400 CE. Belial’s motives for settling are unknown.[3][4] The way the feud was settled appears to have remained a sore point for Baal and his followers.[5]

Baal was the master of Lydia and Harrow, but did not take an interest in Seattle until very recently.[6]

When Lydia discovered that Lorelei no longer served Belial she and Harrow crafted a plan to bring her back to Baal’s service. She summoned him to the mortal plane, bringing him into the body of Carlos Medina. He was present at the Battle of Blackthorne Manor, where he opened a portal from the mortal plane to Hell and brought Lorelei through it. Alex and Rachel pursued them there.

In the following fight he was permanently killed by Alex in his own domain using Rachel’s sword. Lorelei refused to claim his crown, and instead threw his entire realm into perpetual battle.[7][8]

Baal’s death and the Battle of Blackthorne Manor meant a huge shift in the great balance.[9]

Trivia[]

Baal is probably associated with the real-world Baal, making it likely that he was a deposed and fallen ancient god rather than a fallen angel.
