Guidelines

Jump right in! Don’t be afraid to contribute. Anyone is free to edit here, so simply click edit and get started!

Collaborate! We own this site together. Be open-minded to the viewpoints and experiences that other members have.

Discuss! Interpretations of stories and the way things are done here are never set in stone. They can always be discussed and improved. Message walls, talk pages and the forum are always open.

Have fun! We are here because we enjoy Elliott Kay’s stories in various ways.

Dorm rules

1.
We are a crew. As War Cloud said, “You’re part of my crew, so nobody picks on you.”[1]
2.
No bigoted or discriminatory behavior towards groups or other users.
3.
Respect the privacy and integrity of other users and people.
4.
No spam, harassment, or trolling. A person’s talk page or wall is their own. Do not make arguments simply for the sake of making arguments. Chatter the troll is not a role model!
5.
Avoid edit warring—it is not enjoyable for anyone.
6.
Always punch nazis.[2]
7.
Try to follow the style guide to the best of your ability. It provides general guidelines on language, formatting of pages, and use of various templates.
8.
Ask for help. It is much better to ask for help early than to worsen a mistake by trying to fix it.
9.
The resident advisors reserve the right to edit or delete content, pages, or messages that they deem are violating the § Dorm rules or are covered under § Warning.

Warning

Warning Users may be warned or blocked on this wiki for hosting safety code violations,[Note 1] toxic masculinity, bearing false witness, destruction of public property, abuse of authority, questionable interrogation tactics, disturbances of the peace, disorderly conduct, internet harassment, mayhem, falsification of records, perfidy, cell phone hacking, contempt of court, sexual harassment, stalking, littering, intimidation, blatant violation of hosting regulations of adult entertainment,[Note 2] slut-shaming, false identification, destruction of evidence, racism, mansplaining, public endangerment, cultural misappropriation, vandalism, bullying, threats, obstructionist debate tactics, elitism, classism, sexism, veiled insults, open insults, discrimination, gaslighting, victim blaming, baiting, condescension, sabotage, incitement to riot, deceit, taunting, violation of Rules of Engagement,[Note 3] invasion of privacy, obstruction of justice, failure to disclose the cult origins of used furniture, or generally rude behavior.

Prior to any block action, Todd Branch’s words shall be reflected on: MA Malone, are you suggesting the presence of a brig creates a perverse incentive to inflict excessive and unnecessary punishment for minor offenses on my ship?”[3]

Blocks will begin at 24 hours and will increase depending on the number of offenses and type of offense. Blocks should preferably be time-limited. If you feel you have been blocked unfairly, you can reach out to an administrator on their Community Central message wall. All blocks must be accompanied with a written warning on the blocked user’s message wall.

Several of the above actions are also counter to the general Terms of Use or the Fandom Community Guidelines. The resident advisors reserve the right to escalate blocks to Fandom staff. Indefinite blocks should always be reported to Fandom staff.

Page protection

The majority of pages on this wiki shall remain unprotected to encourage all users to edit. Pages shall only be protected if there is a specific need, such as:

1.
Persistent vandalism.
2.
Stopping an edit war.
3.
Persistent inclusion of elements listed under § Warning ¶ 1.
4.
Protect the function of the wiki (e.g. wiki logo, important templates, the main page, policy pages, etc.).

Any protection of a page due to points 1–3 above should be kept to a limited duration and allow editing for as many users as possible.

Unacceptable reasons for protecting a page are:

  • Not allowing different viewpoints to be expressed.
  • Reserving a page to be edited later.
  • Marking a page as done—wiki pages are never done.

To request an article be protected or to have the protection level be reviewed, please contact a resident advisor on their wall.

Resident advisors

Resident advisors are users with elevated rights—administrators, content moderators, and thread moderators. They are always expected to act according to the § Guidelines, in particular ¶ Discuss and ¶ Collaborate.

Policy discussions

Questions and requests for clarifications on any of the wiki’s policy documents, or any other aspect of the wiki, can be made to the wall of any resident advisor.

Proposals on new, changed, or revised policies and practices can be made to the forum using the category “Wiki-meta” or on the talk page of the relevant policy page. Feel free to get in touch with a resident advisor on their wall first for advice.

The resident advisors have final say on any interpretation of the wiki’s policies. At the same time, any interpretation should be guided by Rachel’s words: “I’m neutral good, not lawful stupid”.[2]
