Gargoyle statues able to move on their own.
General[]
Gargoyle automata were made out of stone. They carried within them a remnant of a soul that was used to animate them. Despite their size and weight they could move quickly and even fly.[1] Onyx described them as robots powered by magic.[2]
It was possible that the gargoyle receive its soul through a necromantic ritual, and thus was a form of undead.
Elizabeth’s gargoyle[]
A winged, seven foot tall stone gargoyle that was owned by Elizabeth Van Dalen. It had apparently been created in the 17th century or earlier for some unknown purpose, but she had never managed to animate the statue. In her will the statue was bequeathed to Archimedes and Hypatia, and with the probable assistance of Victor Saxon they managed to make the gargoyle move. The pair used it to attack Molly and Onyx, but it was destroyed by them instead.[1]
The Family[]
The Family had at least two moving gargoyles around their mansion in Vancouver. One was destroyed by Rachel’s angelic fire, while Alex immobilized the other statue with spear, possibly banishing its trapped soul, during their escape from the Family party.[3]
