“Words like ‘steal’ and ‘thief’ are so limiting… I acquire the forbidden.” — Spoilers for Past Due follow.
An attempt to create a cohesive timeline for the Good Intentions Series by Elliott Kay, covering both the history before the series start and the relative order and chronology of the published stories.
Introduction[]
This is an attempt to create a cohesive timeline for the Good Intentions Series. It is very much a work in progress, and doubtlessly contains errors in various forms. See also § Analysis.
It is partially based on the timeline that Elliott Kay posted on Patreon on July 4 2022: Timelines and Links: Good Intentions. For a less detailed chronological order, see the Good Intentions Reading Order.
The backstory covers a very long history, but each book only covers a limited time, usually around a week.
Good Intentions and the series proper starts in September Year 0 in the below list.

October Year 0[]
According to the Patreon timeline, “Secret Shoppers” occurs before “Minor Errands”, following the order of their writing. However, the timeline shown below assumes that the stories in Small Victories are presented in chronological order, placing “Minor Errands” before “Secret Shoppers”. “Minor Errands” is set on a Monday or Friday since these are the known days for Alex’s photography class.[3][4]

Natural Consequences (October)[]
The timeline for Natural Consequences is tricky on the weekend, and currently there is a missing day. Note that Halloween for Life and Natural Consequences are happening concurrently. Halloween for Life also says the concert is two days after Shannon’s talk with Lorelei, not three or four as implied here.
The dates given in the books also do not line up. October 22 is said to be a Tuesday.[5] That would make October 31 and Halloweeen a Thursday, but the Emerald City Halloween Ball happens on a Saturday.[6]

Monday | Alex, Lorelei, and Jason arrested by the Special Task Force; Battle of Magnuson Park. | NC 12–18 |
Tuesday | Amber and Jason make love; Donald is judged and demoted. | NC 18 |
After Natural Consequences[]
The order of “Trust” and “This Year, I’m Thankful For…” will partially depend on how exactly the weekdays of November falls.
Sometime in November or December, Taylor meets Drew, Jason, and Wade at the pool hall and learns of the events in Natural Consequences.[7]

Analysis[]
Creating a fully detailed timeline is likely impossible. This is apart from later works supplanting earlier works in som cases, continuity errors between published works, the works having no fixed timeline as they were written, errors from collation, or errors in interpretation.
Fundamentally, the stories seem to be set in a floating timeline, based on the year they were written. This is similar to many comic books. Natural Consequences has a reference to Tuesday, October 22nd, which fits with 2013. Personal Demons has a reference to Saturday, January 9th, which does not fit 2013 or 2014, but does fit 2016.
