A senior FBI agent and leader of the Special Task Force. He first appeared in Natural Consequences.
Biography[]
Joseph Hauser served in the US Marines before joining the FBI.[1] At some unknown time he either joined or helped form the Special Task Force in Los Angeles to investigate crimes involving the Shadows. It is likely that he was assisted in this work by his guardian angel, Donald.[2]
The events in Seattle in September were of great interest for the Task Force, in particular the disappearance of Lady Anastacia and her vampire court.[3] The investigation started with the Crew but Hauser soon had it focus on Lorelei, possibly due to hints from Donald.[4]
Donald’s influences on Hauser led to him becoming increasingly rigid, unbalanced, belligerent, and focused on results at any cost. It culminated when Hauser was directly manipulated in order to bring in a direct confrontation with the vampires under Wentworth investigating the same events.[5]
In the end, Hauser suffered a mental breakdown due to the mental manipulation and seeing Donald. He was replaced by Colleen Nguyen.[6]
