“But your film sounds awesome and now you’ve got secret funding. That’s a good start for a heist, right?” — Spoilers for Grand Theft Sorcery follow.

A major city in California and the setting for Grand Theft Sorcery.

General[]

Los Angeles was a city in California on the US west coast. Jason Cohen moved there in April or May to live together with Amber Maddox. It is unknown which university he transferred to as a student.

There is a partial interactive map over Los Angeles and the places where various events took place: Map of the Shadows of Los Angeles.

The Shadows[]

The Special Task Force of the FBI had a team permanently stationed in Los Angeles, which was responsible for investigating crimes involving the Shadows on the west coast of the USA. Its first known leader was Joseph Hauser, who was replaced by Colleen Nguyen on a temporary basis, and then permanently by Sanderson.[1][2]

The Shadows of Los Angeles were previosly dominated by the vampire lord Cornelius, who claimed to be the Consul of the Republic of Los Angeles and held court in Malibu.[3][4] After he was killed at the Battle of the Bus Tunnel, the vampires fractured into at least three factions, and tensions between other groups also increased. The vampire groups were led by Teng Yang, Lady Felicia, and Mr. Solomon.[5] Solomon’s faction was dominated by people involved in film making and show business, and had a base in the Fifteen Percent club just off Sunset Boulevard.[6]

There were a large presence of jinn, and their senior member appeared to be Aminah.[5] They lived in an uneasy peace with the city’s ifrit, led by Uthman.[7] There were three werewolf packs. One was led by Sergio, and was probably in the western part of the city. Jackson’s pack was in San Bernardino. The last pack was in Riverside.[8]

Known Practitioners and circles included Latasha’s nature-oriented circle, the Orange Curtain, Universalis Church, and the reclusive Diecisiete. There were also independent Practitioners, like Hang Li. Other independents included the Mitsuyo—a yuki-onna—and Anatole. Anatole was largely independent of the other factions, and went to great length to keep good or at least non-belligerent relations with as many as possible of them. He had quietly managed to claim some of Cornelius’s possessions and resources.[5][9]

The most long-standing person was Sunday, though she was not a Practitioner.

After the Hill house party the stars become much more visible over Los Angeles to people with direct connections to the Shadows. They are tied to the presence Evan Murphy and to the release of Mitu.

The lizard people had a settlement under the city.[10]
