“Overhead” is a short story published in Small Victories in 2020. The crew attempts to find shelter for the night and ends up working for it, adventurer style.

“Overhead” contains explicit violence, perfidy, mugging, stabbing, beating, banditry, breaking and entering, assault, harsh words, jerks, assault with common hand tools, murder, attempted murder, grappling, and false identification.

Synopsis[]

The crew arrived at an inn, both on a mission of recovery and to find a place for the night. Scars and Teryn entered openly, while the rest of the crew sneaked into their room. Scars and Teryn successfully baited the bandits they were looking for, but they caught more than expected.

Trivia[]

Scars says “[they] say adventurers always have a five percent chance of fucking up anything”, a reference to the natural one in D&D.

Alston was supposed to have written a famous ballad, but it is unnamed in the story.
