A corvette in the Archangel Navy and Tanner Malon’s first duty station. It first appeared in Poor Man’s Fight.

History[]

ANS St. Jude was built as a Vigilant-class corvette in the Archangel system. She home ported on Augustine.[1] Her CO was lieuteant Stevens, and she was the first responder to the capture of Aphrodite by pirates in 2274.[2] Stevens’s failure to follow procedure while reporting caused the ship and its captain to be worked very hard with little recognition.[3][4]

Stevens took his duties very seriously, but viewed those duties very narrowly. He was also a poor communicator, focused on appearance over substance, and allowed a culture of bullying to fester on the ship.[4][5] Tanner became the designated target for this when he joined the crew in late 2274 or early 2275.[3]

She responded to an emergency on the freighter Saguaro in May 2275.[6] A few months later she was assigned to intercept and inspect the Yaomo while short-handed. Thanks to the actions of Tanner and lieutenant Gagne they managed to capture the pirate ship, but the ship received no commendation as a unit.[4][7]

St. Jude was destroyed by the pirate ship Vengeance when she responded to the mayday call from Pride of Polaris.[5] She and her crew were presented as the finest ship in the Archangel Navy afterwards.[8]
